１０月３日から第１回のワールドマインドスポーツゲームズが開催されている。Google のニュース検索を使って、１０月以降で、どのくらい、"World Mind Sports Games" という四語が入った記事がヒットするかを調べてみた。
以下に列挙したが、ネット上の英語報道だけで、少なくともパキスタン、米国、英国、インド、南アフリカ、中国、バルバドス、キューバ、フィリピン、ベトナム、ドイツの１１カ国のオンラインメディアがこのイベントをカバーしている。当然、英語以外の各国語のニュースはもっとあるだろう。有名どころでは、英国のBBC、米国の New York Times の記事も見える。
この報道振りを見てしまうと、Shogi が第１回大会の種目として取り上げられなかったのは返す返すも残念である。第２回大会以降に期待したい。
