currently im reading up on shogi because im heavily interested in japanese culture, and i used to play chess on a competetive level when i was younger. in reponse to the previous comment chess is indeed actually full of those brilliant tactics that you see puzzle books, sometimes they are just not as straight forward, and resigning after losing a major piece is usually a mistake unless you are playing at master level, you can use superior tactics even down a piece to force thge opponent to drop a piece or make a blunder, furthermore, even down if the right types of sacrifices are made you can win. i just wanted to point this out.

Thanks for your comment from the point of view as a person who used to play competitive chess.
