You can watch the game between Naiito Kunio(9-dan) and Tanigawa Koji(9-dan) now. It's a first round game of the 20th Tatsujin-sen knock-out tournament. It's a kind of senior tourney where the selected ten players at the age of forty or older compete.
Naito is seventy-two years old. He got various titles including Kisei and Oui. He became a professional player in 1958. His score to yesterday is 1122 - 943. Tanigawa turned fifty this April. He is entitled to be the 17th Permanent Meijin since he took Meijin-title for more than five terms in total. Also he held the other six major titles at least once.
The game started at 9:00am(JST). The allotted thinking time per player is three hours and there will be lunch with time-off between 0:00pm and 1:00pm(JST). So I think the game will end after 4:00pm(JST). You can watch and replay the game through the following link.
Naito is playing Sente and he chose Yokofutori(Side Pawn) opening. Unlike current popular development, he showed his intention to move his Rook to the 8th file with pushing his 7th file pawn to 7e, but Tanigawa did not like it by pushing his pawn on that file to 7d at the 26th move. I'm looking forward to seeing Naito's response to the resistance.
