NY Shogi Club announced 2008 US Shogi Championship in Chicago

It will be held on March 28 through 30. Four professional players such as Ishikawa Akio(7 dan), Sato Yoshinori(8 dan), Kondo Masakazu(6 dan) and Matsumoto Yoshiyuki(5 dan) will visit the tournament as guests. Application deadline is February 29, 2008. For more details, please visit the link below;

As a result of Furigoma, Satomi became Sente(black). The game started at 9:00am(Japan Time). The thinking time per player is 3 hours and 60 second byoyomi after consuming it, so I think it will end before evening in Japan today.

Shogi Vault is a website which wishes to be a comprehensive guide to advanced shogi. The effort was launched from September 2007. The toppage shows a shogi board and the 41 squares of the board represents the theses of the contents to be uploaded. As of now, the squares of BASIC RULES, SIMPLE TSUME TESUJI, POPULAR STRATEGY and EDITORS SCRIPT have good articles with many replayable or static board images. It has been added to Basic shogi information in English available on Internet(2) in this blog.

Yauchi took 1st game of 34th Joryu Meijini-sen

Yesterday Joryu Meijin Yauchi beat Saida(Joryu 4 dan) in the 1st game of 34th Joryu Meijin-sen 3-win match. The score is 1-0 led by Yauchi now. As a result of Furigoma, Saida became Sente(black) player. Saida adopted Gokigen Nakabisha and jumped her left kNight to 6e before completing her Mino gakoi(castle) actively. But Yauchi defended her attack perfectly and Saida's attack ran out.

The diagram above is the resignation one when Saida resigned the game at the 90th move. There is no mate for Gote(white)'s King and Sente has no defense. After the diagram, some of the possible variations are below;

Today is the first game of 34th Joryu Meijini-sen

Both Gekisashi and YSS became the winners of 3rd Computer Sekai Saikyo Kettei-sen.

On January 23 and 24, the captioned tournament was held in Japan. Gekisashi and YSS became the winners with the score of 2-1. Here is the result.
