Presenting shogi at an anime even seems to be a good way to find people who become interested in shogi. Here are two recent examples.
Louisiana #Shogi: Mechacon Shogi Panel
Hey everyone. Mechacon ended tonight, and my panel was last night. It went much better than I was expecting, and everyone who came very much enjoyed the game....
Bienvenue sur Shogi.Fr!!! #shogi at Japan Expo 2009 in Paris (In French, But good phtos on the linked page)
Well, I learned shogi on anime convention - there was a Japanese Games Club from one of Warsaw's business college, and a guy from there teached me how to play.
In the last convention, I showed shogi to few people, and in 2 weeks there will be a convention in Krakow, where I'll make a shogi event - there are many people that want to learn shogi, so I hope I'll be a good teacher :)
