Though any shogi program has not started yet, I think this is a good news to all the shogi fans on the earth since NHK has and are airing thousands of shogi contents in Japanese such as weekly NHK trophy tournament, lives of Meijin-sen and Ryuo-sen title matches, Yearly Shogi Day by NHK, Special Program of Ryuo Watanabe vs Bonanza, Year beginning holiday shogi variety called "Daigyakuten Shogi(Shogi Big Turnaround)", Feature on the final day of Juni-sen A league called "Shogi Kai no Ichiban Nagai Hi(The Longest Day in the Shogi World)" and so on. I hope they will start to release their shogi programs with English subtitle or dubbing sooner or later. In order for them to do so earlier, I think your long term efforts will be needed to watch NHK world TV programs by yourself, to send them your requests to ask for shogi programs, and increase the number of views of HIDETCHI's How to Play Shogi on YouTube which clearly shows how many non-Japanese shogi fans who like to watch shogi videos in English there are in the world.
It seems available through the following link. The main character of this J-Drama is a shogi player who failed to exit Shoreikai to become a professional player based on the original manga with the same title created by Shibata Yokusaru.
On February 1, the 2nd game of 35th
Joryu-Meijini-sen 3-win match between Joryu Meijin Yauchi and
Challenger Joryu Osho Shimizu was held at Sekine Meijin Memorial House
in Noda City, Chiba prefecture. Yauchi was Sente player. The opening strategy was Yagura. Shimizu didn't take normal yagura but adopted Koshikake-gin. I think both had chances to win, but Shimizu won it at lasgt.
The diagram below is the resignation one where Gote took the Rook on 6h by Rx6h+ After the position in the diagram, Sente's king would be mated immediately.
On January 28 & 29, the 2nd game of 58th Osho-sen 4-win match between Osho Habu and Challenger Oui Fukaura was held at Koganoi Bayhotel
in Nankishirahama town, Wakayama prefecture. Habu was Sente player this game. The opening strategy was B-3c at the 4th move and Gote transferred his Rook to 4th file first and then to 2nd file. Fukaura
won it in 106 moves. After the game, the score is tied in 1-1.
The diagram below is the resignation one where Gote dropped his Lance
on 6d.. After the position in the diagram, there would be no immediate mate for Sente. But Gote's promoted and unpromoted Bishops were located on the so vital squares to control the game and Sente had no hope to win. Here is one possbile example after the diagram.
The following boardlives are available to watch now. They started at 10:00am. The alloted thinking time per player is 40 minutes and less than 60 seconds per move after consuming it.
