It might be of interest to people interested in computer Shogi that I generalized one of the most popular open-source Graphical User Interfaces for Chess, the WinBoard GUI, to handle Chess-like games on boards of all sizes, also fully supporting the possibility for piece drops as needed for Shogi, Crazyhouse and Bughouse.

As the way the pieces are represented on the screen is user-selectable by choosing a true-type font, this means it can also be used as a GUI for Shogi. I even included some bitmaps of Shogi pieces.
